Glenn Danzig: Vocalist 1983-1987 Born on 6/23/55, Glenn was Samhain's singer and songwriter, although he also contributed (at one time or another) guitar, bass, keyboard, piano, and drums while recording albums. He graduated from Lodi High School in 1973 and was in several before forming The Misfits. When he left the band in 1983, he immediately formed Samhain with Misfits photographer Eerie Von. In 1987, Glenn changed the name of the band to Danzig, his current band. |

Eerie Von: Drummer 1983, Bassist 1983-1987
Born on 8/25/64, Eerie grew up in Lodi, NJ and graduated from Lodi High School in 1982 with Steve Zing and Doyle of The Misfits. Before Samhain, Eerie played drums for the Lodi band Rosemary's Babies. He also was a roadie and photographer for The Misfits. Originally in Samhain as the drummer, Eerie later switched to bass to take advantage of his potential as a stage presence, replacing Al Pike. Eerie went on to Danzig with Glenn. |

Steve Zing: Drummer 1983-1985/1999,
Bassist 1999 Steve Zing, born 6/29/64, drummed for Implosion, Mourning Noise and The Undead before joining Samhain. He graduated from Lodi High School in 1982 with Eerie. Steve left the band in July of 1985 shortly after "Unholy Passion" was released. He was replaced by London May and returned briefly to The Undead in 1986. He later formed his current band, Chyna, and played briefly for Rubelle Umbrella in 1996. In 1999, Steve returned to Samhain for the reunion tour, playing the first half of the show on drums, and the second on bass. |
Equipment: 1984-1985: Pearl drums, Zildjian cymbals, Promark and Regal sticks (3S). |
Al Pike: Bassist 1983 Although almost completely overlooked and forgotten by fans, Al Pike was in an early incarnation of Samhain. Glenn discusses Al's involvement with the band in interviews with Flesh And Bones ('83), Forced Exposure ('84), and Thrasher ('86). Al is featured only on "Archangel." He previously had played bass for Reagan Youth and also played drums on the Nihilistics' first demo tape. |

Lyle Preslar: Guitarist 1984 Lyle played guitar on the first album and also at the first Samhain show ever. His participation in the band was a remnant of an attempted supergroup combining ex-Misfit Glenn, and ex-Minor Threat members Lyle Preslar and Brian Baker. Lyle supplied lead guitar work on the following "Initium" songs: "Black Dream," "Macabre," "Horror Biz," and "The Shift." After the first Samhain show, Lyle went on to work with The 400, The Meatmen, and Caroline Records. His first band was called The Extorts. |
Equipment: 1984: Gibson Les Paul guitar. |
Damien: Guitarist 1984-1986 Pete "Damien" Marshall, born 2/6/63, joined Samhain shortly before "Initium" was released to play guitar on the "Season Of The Dead" tour. He had also played for Humpty Keg, Genocide, The Whorelords, and Mourning Noise. After the last Samhain show in July of 1986, Damien left the band, and went on to play guitar with Brain Eaters, Ditch Witch, Letch Patrol, Man Size Habit, and Iggy Pop. In 1995 he auditioned for G.G. Allin's band, the Murder Junkies. |

Todd Youth: Guitarist 1999 Todd played for Warzone, Murphy's Law, D Generation, and Chrome Locust before joining Danzig in 1999. When original Samhain guitarist Damien decided not to join the band for their reunion tour, Todd was asked to replace him. He only had 3 months to practice and learn the Samhain and Danzig sets. Although not an "original" member of the band, fans welcomed him to the lineup, some even mistaking him for Damien. |
